Christopher L. Heuertz

Founding partner, Gravity: A Center for Contemplative Activism

Editor’s note: In June 2020, nearly three dozen people alleged that they saw or experienced “spiritual and psychological abuse" by Heuertz; he posted a public apology on his webpage in which he acknowledged that some of his friendships with women “became inappropriate in nature.” A later investigation by an independent, third-party investigator on behalf of Gravity found no evidence of misconduct. Gravity is no longer in operation.

Christopher L. Heuertz is an author, speaker, Enneagram coach, non-profit consultant and anti-human trafficking activist. After graduating from college, Heuertz moved to India, where Mother Teresa mentored him for three years. There he helped launch South Asia’s first pediatric AIDS care home. For 20 years, Heuertz served with Word Made Flesh, working for women and children trafficked into the commercial sex industry.

Heuertz serves on the board of several nonprofits, and in 2012, he and his wife, Phileena, started Gravity: A Center for Contemplative Activism. He is the author of several books, “Unexpected Gifts: Discovering the Way of Community” and "The Sacred Enneagram: Finding Your Unique Path to Spiritual Growth."
