Timothy C. Tennent

Timothy C. Tennent is president of Asbury Theological Seminary, where he is also professor of World Christianity. Before becoming president of Asbury, Tennent was at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary in South Hamilton, Mass., where he served 11 years as professor of world missions and Indian studies. Ordained in the United Methodist Church, he also ministered and taught in China, Thailand, Nigeria and Eastern Europe.

Tennent is the author of “Building Christianity on Indian Foundations” and “Theology in the Context of World Christianity: How the Global Church is Influencing the Way We Think About and Discuss Theology” and is the co-author of “Revitalizing Practice,” which is about challenges to theological education in North America.

He holds an master of divinity degree from Gordon-Conwell, a master of theology degree from Princeton Theological Seminary and a Ph.D. from the University of Edinburgh.

Nurturing Children Through Worship and Prayer Initiative

A new grant is available to support endeavors that help children come to know and love God and grow in faith.

The Nurturing Children Through Worship and Prayer Initiative aims to support programs that help congregations strengthen worship and prayer practices that respect how children experience God and express their faith, include children with disabilities, draw upon the arts, create opportunities for Bible storytelling, and connect worship to the daily lives of children and families.

Proposals are due by 5 p.m. (ET) on May 6, 2024.
