Lori Stahl is a Dallas writer who has worked as a newspaper reporter, editor and college professor. She earned a master's degree in journalism at Northwestern University and spent much of her career at The Dallas Morning News. She also taught journalism at Southern Methodist University.
Our Saviour Community Garden began as an effort to show that a parish with dwindling membership still had relevance in an older Dallas neighborhood. Eight years later, the church garden has yielded nearly 20 tons of organic produce for the needy, serving as a destination for gardeners and a model for other churches.
A new grant is available to support endeavors that help children come to know and love God and grow in faith.
The Nurturing Children Through Worship and Prayer Initiative aims to support programs that help congregations strengthen worship and prayer practices that respect how children experience God and express their faith, include children with disabilities, draw upon the arts, create opportunities for Bible storytelling, and connect worship to the daily lives of children and families.
Proposals are due by 5 p.m. (ET) on May 6, 2024.
