Sustaining Pastoral Excellence coordination program
Lilly Endowment Inc. has selected and funds dozens of Sustaining Pastoral Excellence (SPE) projects, and the SPE Coordination Program supports and resources the work of these projects. The projects are implementing practices and programs that nourish ministers and ministries throughout the American religious landscape, and the program facilitates conversation and learning among the projects.
The SPE Coordination Program began in 2004, gathering and summarizing key learning from projects and bringing together peer learning communities. The coordination program is now focused on helping leaders achieve sustainability for their programs. This work will focus on convening, coaching and communicating.
The program will convene projects around denominational identity, key ideas or shared practices. It will provide two types of coaching. Evaluation coaching will assist projects with setting markers for success. Storytelling coaching will provide resources to effectively share their work. Best practices will be communicated to participants through Faith & Leadership.
