There are people in life who you see regularly and never know much about -- the mail carrier, the bus driver, the guy who gives you a haircut. You know their names, maybe, but not much else. You know them, but you don't know them. For years, Carl Nolte, a columnist for the San Francisco Chronicle, got his hair cut by Joe the Barber. Joe died the other day.
